Joan Didion graduated from UC Berkeley in 1956 with a degree in English. Between 1955-1960, she wrote a number of letters to her friend Peggy La Violette detailing her cross-country train travels, life at home in Sacramento and as a senior at UC Berkeley, and her work at
Vogue in New York. Her letters were great fun to read and I think fans of her writing will find her salutations particularly charming.
